Michelle Steel was the clear winner of Tuesday night’s primary race for the Orange County Board of Supervisors Second District. With 46.6% percent of the vote, Michelle Steel is the overwhelming front-runner heading into November.
“I am so grateful for the support of my neighbors and fellow residents of the Second District,” Michelle Steel said. “I can’t wait to continue sharing my ideas for reforming and improving Orange County government with voters over the coming months, to earn their support for a strong victory in November.”
“This is a big win in a four person race,” Steel’s political consultant Dave Gilliard said. “Michelle beat the combined vote total for the second and third place finishers. No candidate with that level of support in the primary vote has lost an election in Orange County in a long time, if ever.”
Michelle Steel has been endorsed by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, the Orange County Taxpayers Association, Congressmen Ed Royce and Dana Rohrabacher, Sheriff Sandra Hutchens, District Attorney Tony Rackauckas, a majority of the Board of Supervisors, and nearly 60 percent of city council members in the second district.

Elected to the Board of Equalization in 2006, Michelle Steel serves as California’s senior-ranking Republican constitutional officer. A successful businesswoman and renowned taxpayer advocate, Steel represents more than eight million people in the Third District, which includes all of Orange County.
Steel’s commitment to taxpayers began three decades ago when she watched her mother fight an unwarranted Board of Equalization tax bill. As an immigrant and small business owner, Michelle’s mother lacked the resources to successfully fight a massive state agency and reluctantly acceded to the Board’s demands.
Michelle holds a degree in Business from Pepperdine University, an Executive MBA from the University of Southern California, and is fluent in Korean and Japanese. She and her husband, Shawn, have been married since 1981. They live in Surfside, California.
