ORANGE COUNTY, CA – Orange County Taxpayers Association (OCTax) has joined previously announced supporter, Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, in supporting Michelle Steel for Supervisor.

Founded in 1986, OCTax has become Orange County’s most influential taxpayer protection organization championing issues such as property rights in addition to protecting Proposition 13. The endorsement of two of the most influential taxpayer protection groups in the race gives Steel tremendous momentum as voting is set to begin in the election.

“Michelle Steel is a strong advocate for taxpayers. She will be a tremendous leader on the Board of Supervisors for Orange County’s taxpayers and small businesses and for sensible fiscal policies that will keep the county budget balanced.” – Carolyn Cavecche, President, Orange County Taxpayers Association.

Elected to the Board of Equalization in 2006, Michelle Steel serves as California’s senior-ranking Republican constitutional officer. A successful businesswoman and renowned taxpayer advocate, Steel represents more than eight million people in the Third District, which includes all of Orange County.

Steel’s commitment to taxpayers began three decades ago when she watched her mother fight an unwarranted Board of Equalization tax bill. As an immigrant and small business owner, Michelle’s mother lacked the resources to successfully fight a massive state agency and reluctantly acceded to the Board’s demands.

Michelle holds a degree in Business from Pepperdine University, an Executive MBA from the University of Southern California, and is fluent in Korean and Japanese. She and her husband, Shawn, have been married since 1981. They live in Surfside, California.
